Clerk of Course says

Thanks to all who helped out: Stan with marking out, Julian for cutting down fallen trees, Carol for cakes and all who observed.

The rolling observer system worked well, especially as we had more observers than riders and it gives them a chance to see different sections and have a good ride round.

Feedback from riders was good but I did have one complaint that the tea and cake stop wasn't long enough! No pleasing some people.

Sorry we only had 47 sections but as the graded hill was so dry it seemed a bit pointless (plus the ghost of Lord's Grove had taken down all the section markers). Having had glorious weather for the last three years maybe we'll get some rain next year to make it more interesting, although this year's results showed a good spread so we'll keep praying for a sunny day.

Snippets

What a selection of bikes. Aimed at riders of Classic Brit bikes who can still ride them as intended, rather than just polish and pose. The event attracted an eclectic mix, with modern equivalents of classics like Ian Thompson's new style trail bike with no kickstarter, they turned out for a tough day in the almost indian summer. Together with some classic British iron.

Did anyone else spot that only Colin Hedges cleaned section 7 in Pingry on his first lap. The section was attempted again as 23 on the 2nd lap, and no-one, even Keith, could master it. Perhaps that was why ColinH sat out lap 2 of Pingry - he was sat on his laurels! or was it the draw of Carol's tea & cakes? The only other section that was not cleaned was the second one in the afternoon. (All of this info you should be able to gleam from the Section Statistics table down below.)

Video

Mike Allen caught some rides on one of his many sections. Thanks for marshalling Mike. There is some more video to come as Darren was trying a new Camera.

Glyn Smith about to get pear shaped on landing.

Ken Wallington thought his 350 wasn't powerful enough for the steep hillclimb but fought to keep the front end down and gained a clean. Spot the Marshal to see how steep.

Pete Collins on the heavy metal (relatively) takes the ideal line away from the rut.

Ian Thompson wins watercooled class easily on the Freeride.

Paul Farley throttles off for the roots while the buried head watches! See Mike's video for the view from the other side.

Martin Worgan keeps the Ultrapasser high ready for another tight turn.

Section Statistics

What does this mean you ask? Well take section 1 for example, there were 2 cleans and 4 three's and the total score dropped at sec 1 for all riders added together was 19. So section 42 was the toughest with a loss of 27.
