The stills below are in Section order.

All shots by Jackie Jones (There are about 200 other shots of nearly everyone, some aren't rubbish, just email if you'd like one or two, if we caught you. We'll email them back - all free. admin@wgdfmcc.org.uk)

Ian Thompson trickles his shiny pre-1965 Greeves down section 2 for a clean, under the watchful eye of Ben Bishop.
Stuart Thatcher has a great ride for 3rd in T/B with Pant-glas halting his chance of a T/B win.
Chris Morris, always at the top end of the results despite being nobbled by steering lock. he always makes up for it with a superb special test time and shows as fastest on ST1.
First timer Charles Worsfold would look the part in a 1980's black & white shot on his Honda 185.
Byron Williams starts with a clean bike and clean sec1, but suffers a 3 here.
Giles Hixon rounds the first of some beautiful Yew's in Section 3.
Ross Mason came in 14th.
Last year Matt Welch was knocked into 2nd spot for the Pre65 award but wins it this year as brother Simon wins the Wyegate Cup instead. Observed here on section 11 by 2003 Wyegate winner Dave Eeles.
Chris Padfield descends a steep drop at Dave Eeles's section 11.
Andrew Kearns had a strenuous 3 to get out of Darren Thomas's section 12, with only 10 cleans, he should be very pleased with that.
You can tell some of our roads have been around for a long time when the lane is bordered by fantastic trees like this Beech by the cutting at the top of Trostrey. Mark Griffiths enjoys the view out across Usk vale.
Joe Evans-Luter wins the John Price Award for best WG working member after a last minute bike change and as a Rider/Observer he'd probably 2 hours more work to do than the rest of the riders.
This year's Wyegate Cup winner, Simon Welch. He's won Trail Bike class on a borrowed Pampera, that he's trained ready for Amory to use, who he also trained, and he's won the actual Wyegate Cup on a Royal Enfield Twin, and now he's won on the new improved Turbo Twin (Tom Welch mod's). If you like surprises then have a look at his special test times.
Chris Freestone approaches one of the scariest full lock turns for Enduro style trail bikes at Graham Lavis's section 18 at Trostrey.
Viv Jones's Fantic XEF's steering lock meant he has to take a few dabs here to hop the rear end around.
Last year's Wyegate Cup winner Amory Falconer had to settle for winning the Best Trail bike class, and 2nd overall and Best under 25. He only dropped 3 marks but survived a most cleans tie-decider again Ant Milliar on the Sherco SEF300 enduro bike. Ant can take the credit for the fastest overall test time though.
Roger Brain had the right bike to pull-off some quick test times. (Don't worry Roger, we've edited out that bit on the video about being a very "Upright" person on ST2.)
Kim Beeny demonstrates that Pamp's have the perfect turning circle to pull off a clean here.
With the probability of dry weather our Clek of the Course, Ian Wixon, decided we should have 2 special tests as we could end up with multiple clean sheets at the end of the day. He was right about the clean sheets, but just one, Simon. A sensible change for test 2 ensured the slower but more nimble bikes would not be disadvantaged by adding some very tight corners and slippery dust. Did you send your entry off to Peter Joseph here for the Fred Rist LDT?

Ben's Press Report

The master regained his crown from the apprentice over 30 very dry sections and 85 miles around the Wye Valley.

ACU Western Youth Development Squad officer Simon Welch stayed focused all day to record the perfect score of no marks lost on observation, reversing last year's result when former YDS pupil Amory Falconer beat him.

The pair were both clean until Nannies Lane, where Amory strayed off line on section 22 and needed two dabs to make sure he got out of the narrow rocky gulley.

Dry weather for several weeks beforehand made this the driest Wyegate Trial for many years but it still took its toll on riders, most of whom took around nine hours to complete the course.

The dry sections meant there was little room for error, and the closest that Simon came to dropping a mark was at the third section in Forge Wood, where he managed to hold a front wheel washout and keep his feet up.

Simon and brother Matthew were both aboard Royal Enfields which have been in the family for many years, but are very different bikes - Simon's powered by a 250cc two stroke twin cylinder motor and Matthew's by a 500cc four stroke single cylinder. Matthew picked up the Pre 65 award on 11 marks lost.

The trail bike class was very closely fought, with seven riders on single mark scores. Enduro bike-mounted Ant Milliar only lost out to Amory on the furthest clean tie-breaker, as both dropped three marks in total. Glyn Moses was on for the class win until his trial unravelled at the final two sections - the last section's hillclimb had been stiffened to take some marks and Glyn was a victim with a maximum five mark loss.

Expecting many low scores, Clerk of the Course Ian Wixon included two timed special tests to use as ultimate tie-breakers, and Ant Milliar was best overall with second and first best times on the respective tests. Chris Morris claimed the fastest time on test 1, and Simon Welch somehow got the little old Enfield round for the second-best time on test two.

All this was done under the watchful eye of timekeeper Huw Watkins and his young assistant Theo- Ross Jones. He was one of several young officials helping the event run smoothly, including several from the ACU Western Youth Development Squad - all will be keen to ride the event one day.

The John Price Cup is awarded to the best working club member and Joe Evans-Luter enjoyed a day of observing and riding, with a particularly spirited ride up Craig-y-Master 2 on Ross Truszkowski's Sherco enduro bike.
