A bit damp this year – not on the day but the ground was just a little bit soggy. From the start to the first test across Pant Mawr was OK, a couple of boggy bits, nothing difficult but enough to warm up for the test. The test was very slippery and got a bit cut up in places, especially since everyone had to ride it twice – back-to-back. I was getting pretty knackered the second time around and managed to make a bit of a pigs-ear of it and get a bit stuck once or twice!

The next section took us across Cwm Tafalog, a good mixture of forestry going, nothing too technical, just to make us think all was going to be OK for the rest of the day.

Past the Fuel station, and then into the Dyfi forest. There were two checks in here which were reasonably tight. Unfortunately I got stuck in a queue on two occasions and dropped a couple of minutes. (In sure positive thinking would let you see Queues as potential Grip! ed.)

Refuelling was between the Dyfi and Trannon, not too far from the end. I think this is where I made a mistake and followed the course arrows for the Bog-Snorkelling. Seemed like it anyway. Lost loads of time here but managed to get through, and then to the long cross country test 3, which was an excellent ride – even if I was too knackered by this time to make any attempt at a decent time, I just wanted to finish!

Thanks to MWTRA for another good event. It was hard for the solos, pity the poor blighters on outfits!
