Nibbs wins what we thought should have been a clean event for his ability but suffered Roy's famous mud for 5 prods, well actually a couple of them were lost on the rocks. His expected opposition of top Wyegate contenders, Steve Venn and Ben Falconer, were having off days for sure with Ben fiving his first section and Steve having 2 fives.

John Hartley was the the moral victor as he finished on 10 on his immaculate Bantam which despite fears of having insufficient power for the climbs, actually had just enough to not break grip. But he won the Pre65, of course.

Glenda Smith had her first ride in the trials class for a number of years to win the ladies class unsurprisingly, but Huw Watkins took the Trials class win on 17 which put him third overall.

So, Steve Venn would technically get the Trail class win on 21 but a stunning performance from Drew on the CRF230, only 8 marks behind and beating BenF will not be forgotten in hurry!

Well I thought it was a pleasant interlude no matter what the rest of you thought. Not having ridden any event for well over a year I thought it was perfect for me, as I showed by dropping my regular near 3 figure number. As usual we had a vast range of talent to cater for and an even bigger range of machinery. Fortunately the event was priced at a 'I'd pay that for a practise' level so no one seemed to mind.

Vess has uploaded a vid for anyone to see what the sections looked like and indeed rode like. I think Vess managed a lap for 5 but there could have been a prod as well!

So, big thanks to those who put in the work and Roynon for the sections and 'T' for the fabulous cakes and Teas. Again, despite the small friendly crowd, we managed to raise £20 for Maggie's Cancer Caring Centres - www.maggiescentres.org

Clerk of Course Says

Thanks to all who helped both on the day and in advance, planning the sections etc. Cheers to Vess for the paperwork and Paul and Ian for lurking around the cakes and dealing with signing on. And of course a huge thanks to Roy for letting us churn up his land.

'If' I get a dozen promises to turn up (your names will be publicised in big red letters if you don't)  We could possibly do a similar thing in December.

Thanks to the riders for making it worthwhile.

Matt Clerk of the Course.
