The OK Supreme Long Distance Trial - 10th Oct 2004
Hot off the press: We can claim a winner here as Steve Venn won the event for no marks lost - he's a paid up member of the West Glos club, so we'll claim him – while Colin Davis was next best Forest clubman on 8. Ben Falconer lost 10, Stan Howitt 16, Dave Harris 31, Steve Biddle 33, and Tony Falconer 34.
(Ben set 3rd fastest time of the day on the test, beaten by that man Venn again. Oh come on Ben, are you starting more needle matches? ed.)
Stan Howitt, Colin Davis, Dave Harris, Ben and Tony Falconer, Steve Biddle, Steve Venn and all the usual Cheltenham suspects rode the OK Supreme LDT on Sunday Oct 10.
A very well organised event, which aped the CHG's Sphinx LDT, it explored unfamiliar territory in North Glos and Warwickshire.
Excellent start venue at Lemington Lakes, well marked sections, easy-to-read routecard,
zero queues - for a first attempt, Stratford and District MCC excelled themselves. They even threw in a few favourites from days gone by (so I'm told), like Buckle Street, Dovedale and Saintbury.
The highlight of the day was being stopped by a local in picture postcard Snowshill. Oh dear, another moaner I thought (we'd already seen one old boy stop Buster Griffin, for daring to ride a road legal bike on a tarmac road).
But not this time. "Is this the OK Supreme? I won the sidecar class about 40 years ago!" Just goes to show, they are not all against us. Even all but one of the ramblers smiled too!
