The AMCA's Cotswold Enduro Club held the second of their Hare and Hounds type Enduros at Roy and Debbie Breakwell's Farm, this time in near perfect conditions.
Our local riders didn't miss out with a number of them joining in for the 150 minutes riding time limit. Exactly who was riding I could do with some help with, but I know for sure Rob Breakwell was buzzing Dad's little Honda about. And Glenn Thomas, Ian Vessey (read Ian's report...), Dan Bishop, Paul Waycott, Simon Ellway, Dave Smailes were all thrashing about. One of our local heroes, Darren Thomas, had even entered on a 185 Honda! You've got to be brave!
Dan took a nasty tumble and knocked some sense into himself but came in for a finish regardless on 8 laps and 9th in his class. Glenn was on his last lap and managed to dive underneath his big Suzuki in front of the majority of watching West Glos Supporters, sadly too far away for good shot but he also got back on for a finish with 5 laps and 21st in class.
Rob Breakwell had managed to blag a ride on Roy's new CRF 250 and spent weeks setting it up to his liking... well, not entirely true but he did ride it 50 yards before declaring it underpowered and didn't steer! ! Of course this didn't stop him from being somewhere near the front at the end. It seems that some bloke called Derrick Edmondson was a few seconds quicker to claim the outright win! Rob did win the Expert plus class and Simon Ellway also in with the top class came in one lap down but still 11th.
Chairman Vessey came rolling in to the finish waving a piece of bike in his hand which could have been a gear lever, but come on Ian! we all know that trick of unbolting something just around the corner so we can blame a lacklustre performance on something! but you were going pretty good before so we'll let you get away with it as you still got 8 laps in and 14th in class.
Dave Smailes rode well to come 11th in the Enduro Sports Class with 8 laps under his belt and Paul Waycott was buzzing his Honda CRF 250 around for a similar 8 laps and 13th in the Enduro 4/s class.
