Ceri Hare & Hounds Enduro Nov 2007
Report from Steve Biddle
I went up to Ceri Forest to do the MWTRA's Winter Hare and Hounds. Entered the 4hr Iron Man in Clubmen class with Tom Lee, also doing Iron Man with his dad helping in the pits.
Mr Ireland was there with the new Sherco and its very nice too, and he said its a good bit of kit.
Each lap was 9 miles in total with some quite tricky going. The weather was not very good at all, we had a lot of rain and some heavy snow towards the end. I took the 2 stroke and needed 2 fuel stops but a bit of a miscalculation cost me dear, I ran out 300 yrds from the pits on a very steep hill, so had to ditch the bike and run to the pits. I managed 11 laps but according to my overtime (The ammount of time after 4hrs that you cross the line. ed.) my fuel problem cost me another lap.
No goggles all day 'cos of the mud and rain and very dark woods with no lights, put me in casualty the next day with badly scratched eyes - very painful.
I came 4th overall and Tom did well with a 6th on 10 laps. Both good results on a toughish course for 4hrs. I think that puts me in top ten in the Welsh Championship (Results now confirm a Gold for Steve and Silver for Tom. ed.)
Next race is W.O.R at Corwen then Colsty and Snowrun.
