Held as usual at Bixhead Quarry courtesy of Forest Enterprise, this event is as famous for its social gathering as for the trial itself. Many past riders, friends & casual visitors gather to talk the talk. The venue features many steep rock strewn climbs among long established trees & has been described as an event for those who want to get off the pilot jet occasionally.
More usually riding Enduros, Rob Breakwell was grateful for the newly instigated special test to just shade victory from trials regular & occasional Pre-65 scrambler Barry Husband. Jason Bendall won 2 awards-Best (& only) Intermediate & the Hangover Award for the day's highest score.
On the Alternative route, Nick Draper had a fine ride for 1 on an interesting & sweet sounding 4-stroke Majesty.
Ben Bowkett had a very polished ride to be Best B Schoolboy. You can bet that Nigel Tomkins will either win the Twin Shock or Over-40, this year it was Over 40. Best Novice was evergreen (& soon to be Intermediate?) Pete Hughes on a very respectable 16.
So it was all finished by 1:00p.m. when a visit to the Club H.Q. was deemed necessary for alcohol.
