Tree diseases
Forestry venues need extra care. Make sure you bring a clean bike and kit to avoid transferring any of the tree diseases that could be transported from other areas. Likewise, clean your bike and kit after the event before going elsewhere. Advice from FE.

Julian Bishop Boxing Day Trial - 26th Dec 2025
Western centre trials champion Kurt Brain capped off a great 2025 by winning West Glos & Dean Forest MCC's annual Boxing Day Trial in the heart of the Forest of Dean.
Another of this event's former winners Jake Evans-Luter was second, eight marks behind and the trial was effectively decided on sections 12 and 13 where Kurt lost a total of 3 marks over 3 laps and Jake dropped 18. Jack Taylor finished just two marks behind Jake, making his trip from the south east worthwhile. Longhope's Fin Kettle was the best of the ACU Western Centre Youth Development Squad products on 49, well ahead of Henry Bendall. Henry bagged the family bragging rights this year, finishing nine marks ahead of brother Joe. Four riders from the youth squad who are still in Class B attempted the top Expert route. Edward James remained on double figures and Zac Ellway and Harry Bishop who also played key roles in marking out the event beforehand ensured finishes as did Brianna King who gamely took on the top route.
In the Club Class Kevin Nolan headed off the challenge of some very experienced riders in Matthew Christopher and Dan Bishop and once again on the Club route experience told with Graham Wignall taking the win from Ian Wakeford by two marks. Stuart Belcher was the clear winner from Tommy Wakeford on the Sports Plus route and Alf Bendall had the best result for a Bendall on the day, winning the Sports route.
There were 17 retirements and 9 non-starters from an entry of 78 riders. Many thanks to Forestry England for the use of their land, observers, officials and helpers over the weeks leading up to the trial.

Thanks to the many observers who stood out in the cold and allowed us to run 14 sections. And for our Chief Marshal Darren Thomas for coordinating.

Top secret stuff this - don't tell anyone I told you - Only rumours, of course, heard on the Organising team's chat group was "Lets aim for 12 Hill climbs and 6 extreme sections". We all love riding up the gears a bit, so this could be damn good fun. Tell your mates and get your entries in.
Just a head's-up, If you don't currently have a licence (Trials Registration) and want to ride this 2025 event but don't want to pay for a day-licence (Trials £10, I think) then the £35 Trials Registration for ALL of 2026 will allow you to enter this 2025 event too. And if you have to join a club or pay for ACU Associate membership then remember that West Glos club membership will only cost you £5 (For the rest of 2025 and 2026).
Have you thought about your 2026 Trials Licence? Your 2025 one has been extended until the end of Jan 2026, but the new 2026 cover period will cost £35 for up to Regional Restricted level and Non-Championship Nationals (£50 for Brit Championship Nationals cover!), and includes improved insurance.
